In 2019 I curated The City as Game Board, a temporary exhibition about the history of location-based games in collaboration with the Finnish Museum of Games at Museum Vapriikki, Tampere, Finland.

It showed how both artistic and commercial location-based game design and technologies have evolved, from early experiments like geocaching and Can You See Me Now? to recent blockbuster games like Pokémon Go, Harry Potter Wizards Unite and beyond.

The exhibition showcased 8 games and various devices, merchandise, concept art, gameplay footage and other artefacts relating to them. This webpage “virtually” recreates the museum through photos, videos, and text. Please contact me if you’re interested in hosting a future version of it.
